My kids enjoy a hike more when there’s a big payoff at the midway point. Hiking out to a gorgeous view at the top seems to always help make the boredom a little more worthwhile.

But what beats even a beautiful vista? A waterfall. Especially one that you can take off your socks and shoes and play in.

As adults, the older we get, a lot of us eventually realize it really is the journey and not the destination. The path is long and winding.

Eventually it ends. But a lot of us have chosen to be completely present as much as possible – not to mention completely sober – until that happens.

But even though we know it is the journey and not just the destination – not much beats a beautiful waterfall.
