It all started with
a coin from Papa.
When I was little, almost every time I saw my Papa, he would have a new coin for me. He would show it to me, slowly turn it over in his hand, tell me the story of the coin, and then give it to me. I loved it.
That's him in the photo, in the striped shirt absolutely rocking those sunglasses. I'm the little guy in the red.
Fast forward a few years to the present day, and my wife and I — Stacey and Adam — are carrying on Papa's love of coins. With a twist.
On January 1, 2019, I was one year sober and wanted to quietly celebrate. So I went on Amazon and bought a simple AA coin.
By January 1, 2020 — after having that AA coin on my desk all year — I decided I wanted something nicer to look at, and something that meant a bit more to me. I didn't use AA to get sober, and while I'm a spiritual person I'm not really religious. I was looking for something that just, overall, fit me a little better.
To my surprise, I couldn't find it. A beautifully designed and minted, meaningful, non-AA, non-religious sobriety coin — anywhere online.
So I designed, sourced, and minted my own. The Achieve Mint started in 2020 with three coins: One Year, Two Years, and Three Years Sober.
Today there are 100+ products in the store, 5,000+ five-star reviews, and we've grown into tokens, displays, custom coins, race medals, and live engraving — with new designs coming out every month. Still made by hand, in Charlotte.
